Ways to Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved in the work of The Henry Ford. We are pleased to be able to offer an internship for graduate students, as well as other opportunities to conduct research and volunteer.

Clark Travel-to-Collections Research Fellowship

Applications will be accepted from March 1 to November 1, 2023 for research to be completed in 2024. Applicants will be notified of the Selection Committee’s decision in February 2024. Applications require a statement describing the project, submission of a budget, a timeline for completion of the research, a curriculum vitae, and two letters of support.

Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program

The Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers engaging professional development, mentorship, and networking opportunities. We invite diverse candidates who are curious about careers in the museum world to become a part of our legacy and take it forward. All internships are paid and will last 10-15 weeks. Simmons Graduate Internship Program

The Henry Ford’s Simmons Internship Program is designed for current graduate students pursuing careers in museums, historical agencies, conservation labs, or related fields. This internship provides participants with a great opportunity to gain in-depth work experience in a major American history museum.

Stipend and Terms of Internship
Simmons interns are awarded stipends for a minimum 12-week full time internship. Starting and ending dates for individual internships are negotiable. The Simmons Internship Program is funded by the Vera W. and Walter E. Simmons Endowment Fund.

Three internship opportunities are available for Summer 2024. Project descriptions and the application process can be found at www.thehenryford.org/about/employment/job-postings. The deadline for application is Friday, March 1 (postmarked or emailed by 11:59 PM EST).

In 1995, Henry Austin Clark Jr. donated his extensive automotive history collection to The Henry Ford, and since that time, the Archives and Library has strived to process and provide access to this important body of material.
