A Taste of History

A visit to Greenfield Village invites you into farms, kitchens and dining rooms that hosted family meals and extraordinary feasts of the past. Now you can enjoy those flavors at A Taste of History restaurant. Seasonal, locally sourced and historically minded recipes from three of our most popular homes are as fresh and delightful now as they were years ago. Daggett Farmhouse station serves hearty fare that could have come right out of the family hearth in the 1700s. Early 1900s rural Ohio shines at the Firestone Farm station with simple and perfectly prepared meals. Sarah Jordan’s station features homemade pies that were favorites of her boarding-house guests from Edison’s Menlo Park Laboratory. The Burbank Potato station celebrates botanist Luther Burbank’s glorious spuds with a baked potato bar par excellence (toppings such as pulled pork with Greenfield Village smoked tomato barbecue sauce or chili with Michigan cheddar). And finally, the From the Archives station gives us the chance to share special menus and recipes discovered in the archives of the Benson Ford Research Center.

The rotating, seasonal and locally inspired menus allow us to do what we love best — bring you into our stories in the most surprising, profound and delicious ways.
